Santa Croce

The route towards the sanctuary of Santa Croce (in Ladin La Crusc), situated at the foot of the majestic Sasso della Croce, allows to admire the natural splendour and variety of the Dolomites.
Leaving from your Hotel La Stüa you should first follow the Larch trail passing through the splendid larch forests. Having reached the locality of Rüdiferia, however, instead of turning back, you should proceed along trail no. 15 that ascends to the church of Santa Croce, where you should absolutely make a stop to enjoy the magnificent view that sweeps from Marmolada, over the Sella Group, Pütia, the Group of Puez and Odle till the glaciers of the Central Alps in the north.

To get down, take trail no. 7/B that passes through Oies, a well-known pilgrimage destination, famous as the birthplace of St. Giuseppe Frenademez, the Saint of the Badia Valley. Then turn to trail no. 13/A that arrives at the bus stop of Badia.

Otherwise, from the church of Santa Croce you can venture a steep ascent to the Ciaval peak at mt. Sasso della Croce or explore the spectacular Snow Grotto or, crossing the meadows of Armentara, famous for their luxuriant flowering, arrive as far as the picturesque village of La Valle.
